A place to start

*There will be cursing.

Welcome to all you beautiful people!

You’re here because you support my filmmaking in some way or another. In return, I hope to give you a bunch of insight on this project. This may be clumsy at times, but I’ll do my best to share what I can.

First, I want to show you something I’m using to prepare for the film.

The director Todd Haynes did an interview where he showed a notebook he made for his film May December (it’s a great movie). I’m so used to everything being digital, and seeing that physical book inspired me.

Another thing that played a role for me was this book from Fireflies Press about the making of Apichatpong’s Memoria (another great movie!).

The book presents materials Apichatpong assembled for his prep as well as photos from the production, captions of the screenplay, and other elements.

So, for my film, I decided to make a physical notebook!

I have to admit, I was very precious about this at the outset, and that turned into a lot of waiting. I wanted to find the perfect image, and write the perfect blurb, and put it in the perfect position on the page. I finally said “fuck all that” and got going. I really love it, the book helps to make the movie feel alive to me.

I’m going to try to post weekly as much as life allows me. Also, comments are open so feel free to ask questions. I can’t thank you enough for being a part of this journey with me.
